While Jediism & Jedi Realism is it’s own unique and diverse lifestyle. It is open to the many cultural differences of it’s members. Members from all walks of life participate in the community and many still hold true to the roots they came from. Some are christians, buddhists, pagans, taoists and so on. Some are from the military, some from family oriented homes and others from a rough background.

No matter where it’s members come from - Jediism & Jedi Realism realizes the strength in our diversity and welcomes it into our discussions and lessons. We do not seek to change them, merely add to what they already have. To bolster and strengthen what they already know. And to open the doors to new ideas and possibilities.

After all. The Jedi from the Star Wars fiction that inspired much of the Communities early begginings was drawn from the many resources and knowledge of real world religions and philosophies. George Lucas says this about The Force

 "The Force evolved out of various developments of character and plot. I wanted a concept of religion based on the premise that there is a God and there is good and evil. I began to distill the essence of all religions into what I thought was a basic idea common to all religions and common to primitive thinking. I wanted to develop something that was nondenominational but still had a kind of religious reality." ―George Lucas on The Force

What Is The Difference To Cos players?

We actually get this question a lot. From new members to the community as well as from interviewers such as but not limited to: Student Projects, news reporters and documentary directors.... What is the difference? This question is often asked because (While not a requirement)  it is not unheard of for Jediists t o wear Jedi robes, train with toy lightsabers, and adopt fictional references such as   “May The Force Be With You” into their practices or chosen social behavior amongst each other. You will find these practices at Jedi Gatherings for Knighting Ceremonies or Weddings and in cases like the Chicago Jedi who attend Con’s, flash mobs, workshop’s and charitable events in full jedi like attire in order to participate in their local communities and also to get the word out that they are there. There are also  Individual member who found a deeper meanings to wearing the jedi robe’s for practice s like meditations and ceremonies or personal comfort.
